Greetings from the Principal!
P.K.R. Arts and Science College for Women is a premier educational institution with its own distinct identity and tradition imparting higher education mainly to the young women of this rural area which is a very substantial, potent and conscientious task. It was established in the year 1994 at Gobichettipalayam and this academic year 2018-19 is all the more significant for the institution as we are celebrating the silver jubilee year.
Today the college stands tall and proud with its splendid achievements and committed to the mission of empowering young women through holistic education. The college is managed by the Dhandapani Rural Charitable Trust. Our Founder Correspondent late Thiru P.R. Natarajan Ayya, a man of vision and mission with his untiring efforts was instrumental in establishing this college which has blossomed into a centre of higher learning for women.
True to its mission, the college believes in providing the students an environment, rich in knowledge and supportive in their extra curricular interests. We aim to evaluate our students on the basis of their physical, mental, social, emotional and intellectual development as the students, who are from the rural areas and first generation learners, are empowered by developing their human capabilities through quality education. The college focuses on the all round development of individual students through personal care, mentoring and counseling. Discipline is the prime focus on the campus. The students are motivated to actively participate in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that mould them into responsible citizens who can contribute towards the betterment of the society and the nation at large.
I feel proud to acknowledge the contribution of our highly qualified, dynamic and multi-talented faculty who endeavor to enrich the academic and extra-curricular standards of our students. Students are provided with well equipped class rooms, laboratories and air conditioned library where students gain knowledge. The college has a tradition of excelling in Sports and our students continue to bring laurels at the university, zonal national and International levels year after year. The contribution of our Non-teaching staff, also assist in the smooth functioning of the college.
Being at the helm of this institution, I deem it my privilege and honor to acknowledge and thank the management, faculty, non-teaching staff, well wishers and stake holders of the college for their commendable and continuous contribution towards reaching our vision of excellence in higher education. We have to continue to move ahead for producing and maintaining the best.
As a Principal, I view my role as a catalyst to provoke and draw the best of the inherent and latent potential of the P.K.R. fraternity. I welcome the new batch of students to grab this opportunity, take ownership of this institution and embark on this ennobling journey of life enhancing education.
