About the Department

Initially the department was functioning as an allied department. B.Sc. Mathematics was introduced in 1995, B.Sc Mathematics with Computer Applications in 2002 and M.Sc Mathematics in 2003 followed by a Research programme (M.Phil) in 2006.The department has Excellent academic record and number of students have obtained University Ranks. The faculty and students of Mathematics are continuously interested in conducting number of curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities for the development of students & teachers.

About the Department

The Department of Physics was established in the year 1995. There are 10 faculty members in the Department. The Department is a recognized research department since 2005. The Department offers B.Sc and M.Sc Physics programmes with a total intake of 60 and 40 students respectively.

The course provides a strong foundation in the principles of Physics with specialization in Electronics. The elective courses offered are Elements of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Physics of Non-conventional Energy Resources, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Experimental Techniques, Biomedical Instrumentation and Radiation Physics. In the year 2005, the Department has been upgraded as a research Department with the introduction of M.Phil and Ph.D programmes. The Areas of research offered are Thin film technology, Nanotechnology and Crystal growth.

  • To bring to broad day light the rich culture and heritage of Tamil language and literature that is very much in need, at the present scenario.
  • PG course in Tamil literature was incepted in our college in 2014.
  • Post graduation in Tamil literature was introduced in 2017.
  • Research Programme Ph.D. was incepted in 2014.
  • Workshops, conferences, are initiated to enrich the knowledge of our students and Tamil language and its profound rich background.
  • Eminent hands, stalwarts of letters, presided and delegated the functions.
  • Festivals propagating the velour of Tamilians are celebrated in a great manner.
  • In order to expose the talents of students “Narumugai”, a news letter and “Nilamutram”, a magazine are published.
  • The “Kavin kalai vizha” has been organized since 2017, paving way to the wonderful learning of Tamil language.
  • The students of this department participate very enthusiastically in all the activities of the department.
  • They propagate their eminence in various competitions, for instance oration, composing poetry, essay writing.
  • They voluntarily take part in all the competitions held on campus and off campus.
  • Our students bagged first rank in the Bharathiar University, there are also six other ranks.
  • Yoga classes are conducted to strengthen the mental and physical strengths of our students.
  • Students adept in poetry, oration, essay writing are well trained by our teachers.
