About the Department

Playfields and Sport facilities :

  • Playfields for outdoor games like kabadi, volleyball, hand ball, foot ball and hockey are available
  • Facilities to play indoor games like table-tennis, chess, Carrom, shuttle-cock and badminton are available.
  • A well equipped gymnasium is functioning
  • An open-air theatre where yoga sessions are conducted.

Playfields and Sport facilities :

  • Performance in sports and games are preferred at the time of admission
  • Those students admitted under sports quota are given accommodation, food and eduction totally free.
  • 10% of the students strength i.e., 200 students are enjoying such a support from the management.
  • The management is liberal in spending for the upkeep of play fields, maintenance of sports equipments and availing the services of expert coaches for games like Kabadi, Hokey and Volleyball.
  • College teams are encouraged to participate in district/states/national level competitions and the total cost of participation is absorbed by the management. The class hours missed by the players are usually compensated by the concerned teachers through special sessions.

  • Social immersion projects are offered in focus to have social perspective to the students and build their managerial skills.
  • College Bazaar was organized in association with the Tamilnadu Corporation of Development for Women (TNCDW) was organized every year to allow the self help groups to market their products in the college premises.
  • Agripreneurship ,a value added course was offered by the department of management in tie-up with Myrada KVK, Gobichettipalayam for a period of one week (5th to 10th March,2018) to create awareness about earning employability in food processing sector with low investment.
  • The National conference on “Winning the marketing war: Challenges & Responses” was held on 15th September, 2017. Mr.Srinivasan Ramasamy, Global Practice Head, Technosoft Corporation, Bangalore presented to be the chief guest.
  • Five ICSSR funded seminars organized in the department of Management.
  • In tie with TIE, Coimbatore chapter and EDC organized a workshop on “How to start a business online” to boost students’ business in world level.

  • Our Department Faculties attended PDP, FDP, Refresher Course and Orientation Programmes in National and International Levels.
  • Many of our Department Students Completed their PGDCA in Addition with their Post Graduate Degree.

  • Dr. V. Vasanthi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts College for Women was selected as a Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) in the Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology, Thiruchirapalli on 15th Nov 2019.
  • Dr. V. Radhika, Head, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts college for Women acted as an Invited Speaker in the International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials for Energy , Engineering, Biological and Medical Applications-ICAN-2019 organized by the Department of Science and Humanities on 12th & 13th Dec 2019 at Chettinadu college of Engineering & Technology, Karur.
  • Ms. U. Sulthana Dhansira Begum, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts College for Women was appointed as a PG Assistant through PG-TRB at GHSS, Arni, Thiruvannamalai District on 10th Feb 2020.
  • Mrs. C. Arul Jothi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts college for Women has got the BEST oral presentation award from Vellalar College for women, on presenting her work in a National Seminar on Prospects in Material Science on 28.02.2020.
  • 3 students of II M.Sc Physics have completed their short term internship programme at Chettinad College, Karur under Dr. Sahaya Dennish Babu.
  • The department of physics organizes weekly departmental activities in order to motivate the students to develop a thirst towards Science. PHYSICS ELITE ASSOCIATION FOE REFINED LEARNERS (PEARL) is formed.
  • The students of Physics department have added laurels to the department by securing gold medals and University Ranks.
  • Obtained Minor Research Project in Chemistry for about Rs.96,000 in the year 2014-2015
  • Obtained Minor Research Project in Physics for about Rs.80,000 in the year 2015-2016
  • Students are given depth knowledge in subject by arranging several Seminars, Conferences. Resource persons from various Colleges/Universities visit our department to give their talks.
  • One of our staff members got her Doctorate degree in the year 2016, December.
