  • Dr. V. Radhika, Head, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts college for Women acted as an Invited Speaker in the International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials for Energy , Engineering, Biological and Medical Applications-ICAN-2019 organized by the Department of Science and Humanities on 12th & 13th Dec 2019 at Chettinadu college of Engineering & Technology, Karur.
  • Ms. U. Sulthana Dhansira Begum, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts College for Women was appointed as a PG Assistant through PG-TRB at GHSS, Arni, Thiruvannamalai District on 10th Feb 2020.
  • Mrs. C. Arul Jothi, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics, P.K.R. Arts college for Women has got the BEST oral presentation award from Vellalar College for women, on presenting her work in a National Seminar on Prospects in Material Science on 28.02.2020.
  • 3 students of II M.Sc Physics have completed their short term internship programme at Chettinad College, Karur under Dr. Sahaya Dennish Babu.
  • The department of physics organizes weekly departmental activities in order to motivate the students to develop a thirst towards Science. PHYSICS ELITE ASSOCIATION FOE REFINED LEARNERS (PEARL) is formed.
  • The students of Physics department have added laurels to the department by securing gold medals and University Ranks.
  • Obtained Minor Research Project in Chemistry for about Rs.96,000 in the year 2014-2015
  • Obtained Minor Research Project in Physics for about Rs.80,000 in the year 2015-2016
  • Students are given depth knowledge in subject by arranging several Seminars, Conferences. Resource persons from various Colleges/Universities visit our department to give their talks.
  • One of our staff members got her Doctorate degree in the year 2016, December.

About the Department

The Department of Physics was established in the year 1995. There are 10 faculty members in the Department. The Department is a recognized research department since 2005. The Department offers B.Sc and M.Sc Physics programmes with a total intake of 60 and 40 students respectively.

The course provides a strong foundation in the principles of Physics with specialization in Electronics. The elective courses offered are Elements of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Physics of Non-conventional Energy Resources, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Experimental Techniques, Biomedical Instrumentation and Radiation Physics. In the year 2005, the Department has been upgraded as a research Department with the introduction of M.Phil and Ph.D programmes. The Areas of research offered are Thin film technology, Nanotechnology and Crystal growth.
